Shear Madness

Shear Madness is the fresh, funny, up-to-the-minute record breaking comedy whodunit that lets the audience spot the clues, question the suspects and solve the funniest murder mystery in the annals of crime. Shear Madness has played all over the world, but Boston is the original. Appropriate for ages 12 and up. Running Time: 1 hour, 45 minute including a 15 minute intermission.

My husband and I saw Shear Madness for the first time in San Francisco about 17 years ago. We couldn't stop taking about how much fun it was. Then, we saw it in Washington, DC with our daughter a few years ago and recently we took our daughter and niece to the show in Boston. It really is fun for the whole family. The jokes are reflective of current times/news and never cease to bring on the laughter. The improv is on-the-spot, as the actors are witty and engaging. The audience is part of the play and that makes it even more entertaining. I can see how this play has lasted for so many years.

I guess I should have did a little investigation before I bought the 3 tickets. I always heard John was funny. And he was, as far as his flamboyant lifestyle carried the comedy part. But it did get old real fast. They did try hard but it just wasn't my cup of tea. My wife enjoyed it more then me for what its worth.

The cast of 6 kept me & my Mom entertained for 2 hours during the matinee. They all had fun on stage making the performance even more enjoyable to watch. I loved how they incorporated Milw. and our suburbs throughout the show. Nice personal touch.

I have heard of this play for years, and was delighted to see it was in Milwaukee, and with our favorite local star - John McGivern! Both lived up to our expectations, as did the rest of the cast. They have obviously updated this play to keep references current and local. I definitely had some belly laughs. McGivern was perfect. The venue was great, although I wish they served snacks.

Despite this being my fourth time seeing "Shear Madness," over the last 10+ years, it's still almost as hysterical as the first time I saw it. Shifting the venue to the Potawatomi Theatre did not alter the show one bit, and some of the minor updates like Twitter and Tim Tebow keep the jokes and the action fresh. If you haven't seen it, go now! If you have seen it, take a new friend along and see it again!

Although i thought John Mcgivern was funny when he was ad libbing, and there were a lot of milwaukee references that made me smile, i thought this show was just raunchy and over the top the references to sexual preference and sex were just too much and gratuitous. it was like " i get it, enough already" i dont understand why jokes about sex, and sexual preference are funny at all! i was just in awe at the number of times it was made a joke out of and i don't get it

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when I walked into the theatre. It is small and cramped, but that lends to a cozier venue. The show was amazing. Cast is spot-on and there was a fair amount of improv, which made it that much funnier. They keep it very current also. Lots of audience participation and the ending is great! A definite must-see when you are in Boston!!

We decided to see Sheer Madness at the last minute and because we thoroughly enjoy John McGivern. We were not disappointed and laughed all the way though the performance. All of the actors were great and appeared to be enjoying their roles. Watching John's facial expressions and gestures always has us in stitches! Seemed like there was ad libbing going on which made it even funnier! We certainly hope Sheer Madness comes back again. My sister and brother-in-law from Green Bay were not able to join us but are hoping to see it when it returns. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

John and the cast was awesome. It was hilarious and kept my interest trying to figure out the "Who Dunnit". John's facial expressions are priceless- he does not even have to say a word. I love all the ad libs- certainly took some of the others off guard. I love that the audience is involved throughout- either with some sarcastic remarks form the cast which are funny or that we get to help solve the crime by giving pieces of evidence to the the investigator. It was just an okay time , a little boring at times. The actors were very good at times and it did seem to be real with the hair washing. It was a little like the clue game with an above average ending as to who had really done the dirty deed of putting the lady upstairs to death, overall the story was interesting at times.

We took friends there for first time and they thought it was GREAT! It was the day of a snow storm. I had decent seats on the side table originally however, they were able to upgrade us to the center of the stage 3 rows back due to the storm. My wife and I had been there before of course the actors had changed and some parts were even funnier. Yes some of the lines you could see coming BUT it was still funny the way the actors delivered it. In the second half of the show they really get the audience involved. There were kids there which I believe shouldn't have been some of the things were for the adult audience. However the kids there did good even got involved. Overall the actors were really funny.

This play was hilarious! I was very nervous about the audience participation part of it, but it turned out to be the audience sharing information, not being actually involved in the play. I love to laugh - who doesn't? Unfortunately the humor was cliched and became predictable. The storyline and audience participation were a lot of fun, but the supposed comedic part was too centered on sexual innuendo and it got old. Nothing wrong with the humor per se but you need more depth to make it sing. I hope they show more depth in their humor in the future.

Took my husband for a surprise bday gift! We had t laughed so hard in a long time!! Acting was teriffic, plot was hysterical. The improv from the cast was so creative!! It was a blast!! We will def go again!!

WE enjoyed the play and laughed several times during the performance. I for one enjoy a play at which I can sit back and watch other's do the work. Not a big fan of audience participation and memory recall. Although audience members are not required to participate and are welcome to sit and observe the banter back and forth it lost something for me and I didn't find it as fun as others. Never-the-less, it was a good play, well done with good acting and performances. I never warmed up to the characters which left me feeling a bit empty with respect to being a part of the event.

My husband and I had tears comimg down most pf the time since we were laughing so hard. Anyone visiting Boston should see this show. I am pretty sure we will go see it every time we visit. 100% recommended!!!

This show was awesome from start to finish. It was funny spontaneous and locally relevant. I recommend it highly. The venue is cozy as well.
