I've seen Ryan 6 times, and His name as by far his best performance, it also didn't hurt that Emmy Lou Harris was on hand to sing "Oh my Sweet Carolina" from Heartbreaker. Unreal.

Ryan Adams puts on an absolutely amazing show! I've been a Ryan Adams fan for a long time but haven't seen him live until the show on June 2nd at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. My girlfriend and I waited for a half hour in line before doors opened and we were only one row behind people in the front / center of the stage! Ryan's singing / playing is fantastic. The Unknown band was amazing. Karen Elson the opener with her band was great. All the staff at the venue were very helpful and friendly. The sound at the Greek is astounding, even in the very front row. Ryan played 2 hrs with almost no stops. I would have liked some funny banter that I've seen at other shows online, but I appreciate that he played as many songs as possible before the venue curfew. Can't wait to see him again!!

Honestly, this was the best show I've ever seen. For longtime, devoted fans, it was such a treat to see Ryan in such a small, intimate setting among people who obviously respected and knew his music well. Absolutely amazing. I'm still a little shocked that it happened.

The show at the Orpheum in Memphis was fantastic. The setlist was great, but he could play any selection of his songs, and I would be happy. The "Unknown Band" is super-tight! The band and DRA sound absolutely amazing together. The crew also did a great job. The sound mix and lighting production was superb.

Ryan Adams is one of those artists with such a diverse loyal fan base, and I firmly believe in order to truly appreciate him, you should take some time delving into his back catalog. Take the journey and you'll get more from his performances. For this evening, the set list was beefed up with well-knowns, with a fine sprinkling of deeper cuts. Solid musicianship as usual, but his mood seems to have kept him quiet most of the night. It's fairly known that Ryan can be a bit temperamental, but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. However, I think if he has an opportunity to appreciate admirers (such as the 6-7 of us who waited over two hours in the hopes of meeting him and offering a kind word afterward), he should consider it. Watching him hustle into his bus and drive away from the small group was a bit disheartening. It's frustrating to read reviews complaining of lighting issues, etc. This returns us to Ryan being the sort of artist you should do your homework on. He suffers from Meniere's disease, which can cause seizures when he is exposed to flashing bright lights. One of the reasons why his road staff usually points this out prior to the performance. So, sorry that he doesn't arrive with a Pink Floyd-esque light show, but he's got a legitimate reason for it. I feel like he's a well of songs...listening to his catalog is like taking a crash course in songwriting...and he simply can't help but create, despite having to deal with tinnitus, Meniere's disease and well-documented moods. It's worth it. If you are a fan of songwriting and performances that seek to expose the rawest emotions, Ryan Adams is a guy you want to see. Straight forward without being basic. You'll will find a song that touches you.

As a Ryan Adams "Superfan" I expected a great show and he delivered as always. He crammed in 24 songs, and seemed to be on a mission to play as many hits as he could. Amazing singer/ songwriter with many many great albums, he played a few from his latest Prisoner, and mixed in some old fan favorites. I'd give the show a 12 out of 10!

The show was generous-two hours long with a very brief intermission--and covered much of his career, including selected tracks from Ryan Adams and the Cardinals! At least three or four acoustic numbers, which to me were the highlights of the show. I had seen Ryan solo acoustic at Benaroya Hall a number of years ago and it was heaven!

This was an amazing show. Two hours of solid performance with fantastic vocals and guitar work by Ryan Adams. Whether a song was straight rock and roll, acoustic or involved a 10 minute mid-song sidetrack jam session, it was fantastic. I cannot recommend Adams enough. I even found myself looking at his upcoming tour dates to see if there is a date/City that I could make it to -- I've never done that before.

I have mixed feelings on this show. First, some background is necessary. I only discovered Ryan Adams about a year ago through Pandora and other similar services. They played a lot from his latest two albums of original material, Prisoner and his self-titled album. I bought both and really like both. There are elements of Tom Petty and 80s Bruce such as Downbound Train, I'm on Fire etc. I saw Adams was coming so bought a couple tickets. Later, I found out he was originally a country singer who seemed to experiment in almost everything under the sun in the rock and country world in the 2000s. This worried me because today's country music is about the last thing I would listen to, except maybe for rap. So I checked set lists of his recent shows and they looked good, heavy on these two albums with many of his country-ish rock hits - not much pure country. Well, in Berkeley he only played 4 songs from these two albums, the above mentioned hits and about 6 very country songs. While the new songs and his big hits were very good, these country songs bored the hell out of me. I've never sat down and stopped paying attention to a concert but here I did. My girlfriend told me, I can't believe you brought me to a country concert. To be fair, Adams doesn't use the very annoying country twangy guitar, grating male country singer affected voice or foolish cowboy hats. He is also a very good guitar player. So if you're a country fan you probably would have liked the show, but I left feeling let down. I still love the latest two albums and recommend them to everyone, but I don't think I would go see Adams again. It's too much of a risk to spend the money and be bored for a significant amount of the show.

Karen Elson/Ryan Adams were fine. But the whole reason I bought these tickets back in February is that it was advertised as a Jenny Lewis/Ryan Adams show. Even on the day of the event the venue's web site continued to list Jenny Lewis as one of the performers (see images below.) Super disappointed to spend $60 each on two tickets and not even have her there...nor did Ticketmaster respond to my tweet about the situation. Although Jenny did - and said she had never been scheduled to play this show. So - disappointing all around. I'd ask for my money back but am far too jaded about Ticketmaster to even go down that path. BTW - that was the lowest energy crowd I've ever seen at the Greek. Or to quote my young companion, "This is the mellowest crowd I've ever been in. And I've seen BEACH HOUSE."

We had third row seats for this show and we were absolutely blown away. Ryan's voice was in great form and his touring band, The Shining, were tight and extremely talented, especially the drummer. Ryan mixed in a few new songs with some Cardinals classics and a few of his stunning solo acoustic songs. One of the highlights was when the band left the stage and Ryan walked up to a microphone on our side of the stage (about 10 feet away from us) for a solo acoustic rendition of My Winding Wheel. Absolutely beautiful. Jenny Lewis opened and was great too. She also came out and offered vocal support on Oh My Sweet Carolina. Overall, a truly unforgettable experience.

Ryan Adams and the Shinning did an amazing set! Had I had more money I would have gotten tickets to some of the other shows. Ryan is a true musician and he killed it on the guitar all night. Played his own personal classics, such as Winding Wheel, New York New York, Come Pick Me Up, and my personal favorite - Oh My Sweet Carolina. Natalie Prass (opener) joined him for a couple songs. he even had Jason Isbell join him. That's the magic of the Ryman, you never know who will join the stage.

In my lifetime I have been to well over 100 shows now. I am 26 years old and an avid show attender. This was easily not only one of the best shows I have been to, it was probably one of the best experiences of my life so far. Ryan Adams from start to finish was perfect. He managed to get a sound that I had never heard out of the Ryman before. Anyone who is on the fence about this show needs to just go ahead and buy tickets. You will not be disappointed. My daughter and I really enjoyed the show. Ryan is super talented, both as a songwriter and performer. We really liked his band as well. I thought his drummer was outstanding and I like the keyboardist who used a real Hammond organ. I was totally absorbed by the beauty of many songs, especially "When The Stars Go Blue." I also liked that he played the songs differently than the albums, giving them a fresh treatment with a new set of musicians, especially "House Is Not For Sale." He did have an extended jam sessions that went on a little too long, and I could feel the crowd getting antsy. I'm not sure why that went on as long as it did, especially with an artist who has such a large catalog of songs to choose from. My only gripe and the reason I'm giving this show 4 stars instead of 5 has nothing to do with Ryan. Our seats were in the left center orchestra section in the back by the door. The problem was they kept the light on back there and it really took away from the atmosphere -- kinda like watching a movie at home with all the lights on! I also don't like the fact that they serve alcohol during the show. This made for a very disruptive environment as audience members were continually getting up to get more hooch, pee, or be loud and disruptive. If I were to go to the Tower again I would be very careful about which seats I get. It's also not exactly easy to get to from Jersey as you have to drive through the city. Overall, however, it was a great show by a super talented artist who I definitely would like to see again, but with better seats!

I believe this was the fourth time I've seen Ryan Adams, and it was by far the best show I've seen of his. (Disclaimer: I missed him touring with The Cardinals.) In fact, it was one of the better shows I've ever seen -- certainly in the top 5% (and I've been to hundreds of shows). Adams seems to be more relaxed and enjoying life these days, and that's reflected in his comfortable stage demeanor. Gone is the petulance and tension of some of his earlier tours -- this is now a mature artist and a master of his craft who understands the dynamic between artist and audience and makes the most of it. He has tinkered with the arrangements of nearly all of his songs -- only "Gimme Something Good" sounded more or less like the album version -- and that leads to a richer overall live experience. He was in great voice on this night, and he and his band have reached that point where they anticipate each other's moves, which was especially evident when Adams improvised a comic song in the middle of the set. It was the best concert sound I've ever heard at the Fillmore -- kudos to Adams' sound techs. I've been to many concerts at this venue and never enjoyed such a clear mix. Perhaps it was due to the bass being turned rather far down, eliminating a lot of the sonic clutter that muddies the typical live mix. I must admit that I was disappointed to realize, when looking online at other setlists from this tour, that Adams has been playing more or less the same set every night. When did this become the trend? Doesn't that get boring after a while? What happened to bands mixing it up every night, writing out a setlist in magic marker ten minutes before showtime? Granted, if you only see one show on a tour this isn't really an issue, but knowing that a band is grinding through the same set every night makes it seem less like a spontaneous live performance and more like a choreographed stage spectacle. It's still great entertainment, but something seems off, in retrospect. Maybe that's just my own personal quibble -- bottom line, Adams and his band play a great show that should please longtime fans and even appeal to those who were dragged to the show by their spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends.

Possibly the best show I ve ever been to. I ve been a Ryan Adams fan for years but was never a big Stones fan and I wasn t sure what to expect. As usual, Adams didn t disappoint. The band he chose perfectly complimented his vocals and style. I loved the poetic license he took with Sweet Virginia and Stop breaking down (with Cyril Neville on vocals), my music-junkie friend loved the guitar jams, which were like the Grateful Dead meets The Rolling Stones, and the contributions of local artists added subtle Louisiana flair to these classic songs. The lively tunes had everyone around us out of their seats dancing for nearly the entire show. And of course, the Saenger is a beautiful venue for any performance. Props to Adams, Was, and the entire band for a delightfully well-done show.

I've seen Ryan Adams every time he's come to Houston, and like some other great artists (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Prince), Ryan is, shall we say... mercurial. He's the proverbial "girl with the curl." He's either very, very good, or he's phoning it in. On this tour, he's obviously feeling the music, because he was on fire, both at this show, and again when I saw him a week later at Austin City Limits Festival. I don't know what lit a fire under him, but he came onstage like gangbusters, and played a two-hour set that included most of my favorite songs ("To Be Young [Is to be sad, is to be high," "Shakedown on 9th Street," "Cold Roses," "Magnolia Mountain," "Let It Ride," "When the Stars Go Blue," "Halloween Head," "Lucky Now, etc.), along with a clutch of strong new songs from his most recent album. He didn't play "Come Pick Me Up" or "New York, New York," but he played them in Austin a week later, so he's obviously switching up the setlist a bit, night-to-night to keep things fresh. If you've never seen him (or even if you have, and you don't know which Ryan you're getting), trust me when I say that this is the best that he's been in years. And yes, he threw one of his patented tantrums that lasted about five minutes (this one over someone using a flash; apparently, he has something called Menier's disease, and flashes can trigger seizures). But that's the Ryan Adams we all know and love. Cranky and cantankerous beyond his years. And as long as he keeps putting on shows as great as this one, I hope he never changes.

If you're wanting to hear all of your favorite Ryan Adams songs at his concert, you will be sorely disappointed. If there was a "C-side" to his albums, he would've played all of THOSE songs. EXAMPLE: I have 10 of his songs on my Spotify playlist and he only played 2 of them out of the entire 26-song set. The two songs I actually knew weren't even on my top 5 list of my favorite Ryan Adams songs. Sigh...

I was so excited about this show. I haven't seen Ryan Adams since his "Gold" days. What a disappointment. To begin with, there was so much smoke you couldn't even see the stage. I thought it would last just for a little while. Something like a grand entrance. But no, it was the entire show. It is a shame to spend money on a show, hoping to get a glimpse of someone you admire only to be at the boogie fog. Plus, I wonder how legal that was. Possibly it had something to do with his meniere's disease which he ranted on about for 5 minutes.

My husband and I loved Ryan Adams' rapid-fire performance! I don't know how he's able to do one song after another with barely a break to breathe. Very impressive! The venue was great, too. Excellent acoustics and comfortable balcony seats. We had a great view of the stage from above.

Much harder than past times seeing him play- even with The Cardinals. Great show- warning - when they say "no alcohol after intermission" there is no intermission or setbreak - they play straight through.- so no refills after he starts

So happy to finally see my favorite artist. The theater had such great sound and it was an overall great venue and show. Ryan is one of the best songwriters of this generation and sounds even better live than recorded.

Fun concert, lots of energy. The venue is small enough that all seats have a decent view of the stage.

I've seen greats from Willie Nelson to James Brown and this Ryan Adams show was one of the best I've ever seen. With the exception of a couple of false starts, Ryan Adams and the Shining managed to sound timeless while at the same time playing with a fresh sound and clear energy as if he wrote the songs yesterday. I was with several friends who had never seen him play before and they were impressed with how funny and entertaining he was. It was a fantastic show and I can't wait to see him again. Overall, Stage AE is a great venue and gives you a space with great sound that gives you the freedom to move around, get close to the stage, while feeling that you have your own space. The Pittsburgh skyline creates a beautiful setting for a night out.

The guy is a pro. He played a full set with broken ribs (I don't know how he did that), engaged with the audience beautifully. Despite a half empty venue, he and the band were on point and were so good to the audience. I couldn't have asked for more. He delivered. I would have paid double. Beautiful venue. Fantastic acoustics. My only regret is not buying an orchestra seat when I had the chance and seeing everything closer.

Definitely worth the drive from North Carolina. Jenny Lewis played a great opening act and Ryan Adams was even better live. The venue was easy to find and the seats were good for the price.

Played songs spanning his entire career, ranging from reimagined versions with his new band, the Shining, to solo acoustic songs. Had to drive a few hours to see the show, but was totally worth it.

Probably a great venue for many types of performances, but the carpeted quiet arts center was perhaps the only downside with standard fixed seats. Ryan is back, has played wonderfully this year since Newport.

It was a great show. We were in the nose bleed seats but it didn't matter. The sound was good and Ryan Adams and his band were great. He played some new songs and lots of old favorites. The venue could spend a little on a few signs. From the parking lot we followed the crowd into the ice hockey game next door by mistake. That was the only parking lot and our e-mailed printed tickets scaned us into the game just fine. Caught the elevator up and there was the ICE. Good thing we were early so we could walk over to the show. Put up a sign!!!!!

Jenny Lewis and Ryan Adams both put on fantastic shows. I was very impressed with the performance of Jenny Lewis as I didn't know much of her music prior to the show. Ryan Adams was even better than I anticipated and played for almost two hours. Nice venue a the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.

The music, performance, sound was great. The show was advertised to start at 8. Jenny Lewis went on at 7:40. A lot of people missed most of or the entirety of their part of the show. That was a HUGE disappointment.

David Ryan Adams should come home more often. From the opening chords of Gimme Something Good to the final echoes of Come Pick Me Up, in between were 20 gems that were culled from an extensive catalog. Bantering about his some time guitar tech ROCKY and chiding is bandmates was common in between some fine renditions of DIRTY RAIN, LET IT RIDE, STARS GO BLUE,TO BE YOUNG and I SEE MONSTERS. A fine soulful rendition of Wonderwall was set quietly right in the middle of this set as well Jenny Lewis played EMMY Lou Harris on "Carolina" to all the fans delight.. Rating - 5 *****

The stage was amazing, the set was absolutely fantastic, he went off script a bit but was engaging. I would recommend to anyone who is simply a fan of music to go see Ryan Adams. He is such a prolific song writer and will be looked back on as one of the greats in rock and roll.

Ryan Adams sounded unbelievable, and he was very funny. He and his band executed some of his all-time best songs with gorgeous precision. As a long-time fan, the performance was both intense and moving. I had very high expectations for this concert, which were exceeded. My wife had the same impressions. They played for 2 hours, but I could have stayed for another 8.

The concert was amazing. This was the first concert I have been to at the Ryman (which is crazy because I live 2 hours away and go to as many concerts as I can) and it was amazing. The venue and Ryan Adams were both unbelievable. He sounded great and his onstage banter was hilarious. Plus, I'm so glad I was there to witness Summer of 69! Awesome, awesome show and experience

Coming full circle, from the infamous Ryman show that helped earn him a bit of a negative reputation (see/read about him covering "Summer of '69"), Ryan Adams absolutely crushed this performance. Top-3 shows I have EVER seen. Opener Natalie Prass, and speacil guests Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires nailed it too. So, so, so good! My only regret/gripe is I didn't go both nights. Bravo.

He man can sing. I just wish he had sung more acoustic songs. I think those are his best. But he likes to rock it out.

I loved being able to visit the historic Ryman Auditorium. The concert was amazing and it felt more intimate at this venue. I have loved Ryan Adams music since I first heard him in 2001. He is definitely one of the greatest singer/song writers out there. Right up there with Bob Dylan! The acoustics were phenomenal! What a great experience. It was my first time in Nashville and I am already planning my next trip. I hope to see Ryan again in Nashville.

I've seen a lot of concerts in my day and Ryan Adams at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia was one of the best. I love his music and his song writing so I went with high expectations. He and the band delivered well above those expectations. Ryan is a superb guitar player and his band was great. Ryan is a great story teller too. Had me laughing about an incident he remembered in high school. That really makes an artist human to me. I would go and see him again and again. I hope he comes back around on this tour.

ryan adams and the band (still cardinals?) put on a spectacular show. ryan's voice was strong and clear, backup harmonies perfect, great rhythm accompaniment. i was surprised and impressed by ryan's guitar playing, and the interchange with the second guitarist. the song selection was uptempo and fun, though i would have loved more than one acoustic song in the set (solo encore). all in all great show.
