Superb solid bass and drums, great, animated & bluesy lead singer that smartly doubled on sax when approriate!. Kim, as cool and great as always, was surprisingly energetic which as a garage musician myself, and being the same age, I know to keep the energy level up is really difficult! . They opened the set with a new tune and went right into "Looking' In" then mixed old with new for the entire night. Very pro and solid perfromances by all. Met Kim after the show, talked briefly about old times (St.. John's University in Queens, NYC) 40 Years back. Since then I've seen them over a dozen times including the old Filmore East, the World Trade Center concert et al, and before at B/B'S. He graciously signed a "Looking in" LP (still sealed) and a Raw Sienna LP. Since I have all SB's & Kim's LP's & CD's it was difficult to decide which ones to bring. Their new cd was not yet avalable (November).

Jazz/Fusion Drummer Billy Cobham quietly and humbly makes his entrance on stage, takes his place behind a mountain range of drums and cymbals and proceeds to musically blow the roof off Variety Playhouse. His cast of supporting musicians guitarist Dean Brown, keyboardist Gary Husbands and bassist Ric Fierabracci performed well above par playing past Spectrum jams and riveting solos.

He didn t miss a note and his piano skills are off the chart. He let many of the stars in the Lincoln jazz orchestra shine as well. He is a classy wonderful guy who puts on a jazz fusion show unlike any other.

Alejandro showed an incredible mix of music Saturday night at Madison Theater in Covington KY. The crowd was a bit sparse-- about half filled, but that was not a problem. The beginning of the set was straight rocking, mostly from the new album. The rest of show mixed in old tunes and showed off some great acoustic sounds. One high points was his lead guitarist... the "white guy from Austin" who blistered through rock, jazz, and many traditional mexican tunes. He also filled in nicely for the cello parts which were obviously missing from the simple four piece band. He turned the accoustic guitar into a tension building cello back ground that was the high point of the show. It may sound corny but by the end of the show, the crowd and performer really connected., primarily through Al's ability to tell stories and connect people with his music. Great show.
