Dungen
DUNGEN IN CONCERT:Swedish psych-rockers Dungen first grabbed the attention of North American music lovers in 2004 with their acclaimed album Ta Det Lugnt, and they've been melting minds ever since. Over the past decade the band's kaleidoscopic recordings have evolved to incorporate many diverse styles, from Scandinavian folk to free jazz to experimental ambience, and their eclectic approach keeps fans on their toes. The group's ambitious orchestrations are even more impressive in concert, where standout tracks like "Panda", "Fredag", and "Sova" come to life with fuzzy guitar riffs, jazzy drum fills, and echo-drenched flute solos. Frontman Gustav Ejstes skillfully ties it all together, playing a different instrument on every song and singing his Swedish lyrics with so much passion that most hardly notice the language barrier.
