Kat is and extremely talented singer and song-writer. Her music is like old jazz standards but updated. I would say she could be the new Diana Krall. Everything she does is flawless!

Purgatory is a small stage so the gig wasn't too big but it was perfect and they all looked like they were having a fun time playing. Both Of the opening acts, Gambles and Reputante, were also amazing. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I was not a huge fan when I went to the concert (my husband was). But after seeing them perform live-I am now. They were really good live, full of energy and played an interesting variety of instruments. Very fun show!

Dweezil Zappa Plays Frank Zappa

The enthusiastic crowd was a bit perplexed by the obscure opening number from the Freak Out album. My date thought it to be weird, but she said that the last time also! After that, more familiar songs from the early 70s catalog got the crowd going! Dweezil's solos were amazingly close to his Father's, and at times gave me chills! I had seen Frank play only once in Chicago nearly 40 years ago during the Zoot Allures album tour, and have been hooked ever since! The band had a new singer named Miki, with a beautiful voice, and also played keyboard. Then Dweezil brought an audience member on stage and invited him to join in as the band did a medley of non Zappa music from the 80s. A mix of 50 or so different songs segued seamlessly together, it was fantastic!

Seeing them live for the very first time, was an unforgettable experience. I had a blast, from beginning to end. I will definitely go back and see them live again once they are back in LA.

Bobby Long

Seeing someone as talented as Bobby Long in a tiny venue like Mercury Lounge was a real treat. His wonderful voice manages to sound even more incredible live. This was my second time seeing him and it certainly won't be my last. I don't think I'd ever get tired of watching him perform. He played mostly songs off his upcoming new album, which I hadn't heard before, but nevertheless enjoyed. He also did some favorites from A Winter Tale and Wishbone albums. Honestly, I would have loved to hear a few more older tunes, but he could pretty much stand up there and sing the phone book and I'd be happy. If you haven't seen him live and you ever get the chance, DO IT!

Ike Reilly Assassination

Save rock and roll and go see this guy. Ike and IRA were red hot; playing at full throttle for an appreciative audience. The crowd was smallish, but filled with energy, which Ike seemed to feed off. If you're on the fence about seeing him live, know that this talented songwriter and rocking band showcase their blend of punk, rock, and blues as though they're entertaining a much larger crowd. Its an opportunity to see a great, but for now overlooked talent. Highlights included 7 Come 11, Two Weeks of Work, One Night of Love, Death Slide, Commie Drives a Nova, Charcoal Days, Black Kat. Hell they were all great. Great Scott is a small venue, with a long history of featuring indie-underground music. Crowd would have been larger had the show been scheduled when the local universities were in full session, but Ike was showed the love..
