I used to live in China and now moved to Gainesville for school. I have been always loving death metal music very much since I first got to know it in China. I attended a Dying Fetus performance in Beijing and a Suffocation performance in NYC, but I would say last Sunday's Deicide has the best atmosphere among all! I think the reason is Tampa is close to St Petersburg and it has a solid foundation of death metal lovers there. Decide is really a perfect band with perfect techniques and the ability to control the whole place and the people there. Expecting more Tampa bands' performances!

Why is this guy so unknown to most? I have been following him, for the most part since 1976, saw him at SUNY/Stonybrook in 1977, 5th row. He is as good a player/songwriter, guitarist as Dickie Betts, who discovered him; perhaps if he joined ABB when asked he might be more famous. He played his ass off, great singer, song writer, and what a player !!!-I was sitting about 8 ' from him, this show was a treat-thank you Les!!!

I had no idea what to expect from Mr. Henry in concert. He is known mostly as a producer of other people's records (Solomon Burke, Ani DiFranco, Aimee Mann, and John Doe), but has a relatively low profile as a performer, even though he has toured for over 15 years. And. there was quite a small turnout at the club for the show. At 9:00 Henry walked onstage with an acoustic guitar, and proceeded to sing a large collection of his own material, especially from his latest release, 'Invisible Hour'. He has a lovely singing voice, but his writing is what stands out. He has such an insightful way to discuss human relationships, and the world around him. This was 'Joe Henry, Folksinger' night, and a mighty fine one at that. Great show!

I generally don't like going to the Whiskey - I only go there if the line-up is eminently worth it. And I'm glad I went this night. Concert could not have been better - sound was great, we had an excellent table overlooking the stage, the bands rocked. I'm a big fan of Immolation, and they amazed as usual. Technical virtuosity delivered with a ton of soul (of the metal type). Great guys, too! Vader is, of course, a headlining band itself and has been one of my favorites for many years. They didn't do as much of the older stuff as I'd like, but that's ok. Abigail Williams - I'd forgotten how black this band is! Very impressive, I had to buy the two CDs they had with them (all I'd had previously was "Legend") Imperial Decay is definitely up and coming. An enjoyable listen, definitely head-bangable. Pile of Priests has a good drummer, but as a group they have some work to do. Especially on balancing their sound. Drums were the main thing heard.

Magic happens when James plays. Just go to the next show whether you are familiar with James or not. You won't be disappointed.

Expensive. Others' reviews have already gone play by play. I'm glad I went, having never have seen them before. But I would not go again. It was, even for a metal show, simply unnecessarily too loud. I brought ear plugs, but I should have gone and had my ears sewn shut for the weekend and wore a pressurized deep diving suit. It was not physically pleasant listening. And, they did not do "Carry On" which was disappointing. The documentary segments were unnecessary as well.

I'v been playing guitar for over 40 years now and I can easily say that Frank Marino is "the quintessential" guitar player of all time! The way that he has mastered all the different techniques and styles of playing boggles the mind! We as fans, are eagerly awaiting the release of his first live DVD and highly recommend anyone to give it a shot, #no matter your age#! I met Frank at the Rock and Roll Marathon concert back in 1981 and we've been friends ever since... He's that kind of guy, a real genuine soul who always seems to make time for his friends and fans! The first time seeing Mahogany Rush was at the Hollywood Sportatorium back in '74 or '75 playing with Aerosmith. Aerosmith was good, but, Mahogany Rush killed it!!! Fast foward to today, I can't wait for Frank to go out again. Last time I had to go to New York to see him but, it was worth it! Pack a lunch if you intend on going 'cause he plays for hours and you get such a huge selection from his diverse library of tunes. Hey, Rock and Roll Hall of Shame, It's about time!!! Frank Marino should not just be mentioned but, should be at the very top of those greatest guitar players of all time lists, #it sickens me some of these lists they come up with#!!! Go see him live, you won;t regret it...
