Comedy, amazing auction with stunning generosity, and closing with Red Hot Chili Peppers (usually Bruce Springsteen, but he was playing on Broadway this year), all for a good cause!

First, let me express my love for The Masquerade. Next to the Tabernacle, it's my favorite Atlanta concert venue. I only wish it could've lived up to it's reputation for Mitski and her warmups. The interminable sound checks and monitor reassignment killed valuable show time...I wondered if these acts had any chance to sound check at all, or if the A1 just decided not to record his presets. Mitski spent a good twenty minutes of her set time testing, testing, testing, and still couldn't get what she and the band wanted in their monitors. A VERY poor showing for the Masquerade. The sound problems aside, Mitski live onstage is an astonishingly beautiful, cerebral, and visceral performance. Her voice hypnotizes, and the music crashes onto you unexpectedly. Elvis Depressedly.....eh. I wasn't impressed. Eskimeaux, however, was a nice surprise, a performance/experimental music act that I'd recommend for another listen. Foxwound, the very first act, was okay, but not memorable. Though I support local bands, I think that with all the audio trouble that night, it might've been wiser to keep these guys off the bill so the sound engineer could concentrate on the touring acts.

I first saw Anoushka play with her father 15 years ago. And now I loved how she has blended North Indian Classical Music with other instruments to create a sound all her own.

I've seen TVOR a few times, but this was my first time seeing them as a solo act. They had a great opening band, which I can't remember the name, but they help set the mood for the show. The main act started a bit late, nearly hour, and I got pretty reckless. When the band finally came on, I let them take me on trip of guitars, distorted vocals, and horns. Sometimes other instruments were louder than others, which drowned out some of the vocals; a down side. I didn't stay for the entire encore because it was getting late, and I wanted to catch BART, but I left mostly satisfied.

I had a great trip with my fiance and three friends to Detroit. Before the concert we walked through the Heidelberg Project and admired the public outdoor art that lives among the rooted neighborhood. We made it to the Magic Stick in time to wait in line at the door for a half hour. It didn't help that the street the venue is on was completely tore up and inaccessible, but nonetheless. It was a vintagesque bowling alley/diner that looked like major Detroit hipster hangout. We bolted to the merch table to explore our options. They had some good stuuf, I got two cds, S got a vinyl and Z and J got shirts. His opener Vinyl Williams was acceptable, but everyone seemed impatient to see Toro Y Moi. Near the end of the intermission S and I saw Mr. Chaz walk up to the merch table and chat for a brief moment. His smile is like butterfly kisses from a kitten. We were basically breathless and then Z and J came back and said they saw him too! It was great that we were split up and all still managed to snap a glimpse of him. But yes, the performance was amazing and uplifting. The crowd wasn't most favorable as some people couldn't control their broseph frat/clubrat drinking habits, but we didn't let any of that ruin the wonderful time Toro Y Moi presented for us. Will definitely be seeing them again.

TGT: Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank

I've had the privilege to see Tyrese and Ginuwine perform several times in the past. This was the 1st for Tank. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert from beginning to end. I like that they all were so engaging with the audience. It was by far the best concert I've been to. The amount of time they performed solo and then as TGT was sufficient. Although, they could have sung all night. So ready for Aug 20th , to get my copy of the album.

Incredible show - one of the most memorable I ve attended in years. Jenn s vocals are evocative and powerful, Andy s a rhythmic genius, and the songs soar. They are exceptional both technically and creatively \u2014 a rare combination. Their bass guitarist on this tour is great, too, providing a line that s both complex and steady. Do not miss seeing Wye Oak in an intimate venue \u2014 they won t be in small venues much longer.

Venue was quite nice! Hardly a bad seat in the house. Mr. Che did not disappoint! There were spots that were a little slow, but definitely funny!
