Ballet Arizona

Shaxpur
Those were the words of my 8-year-old granddaughter who was introduced to the ballet with this performance. She was entranced throughout the first act, asked only a few questions during the second, then was full of questions during the third to help her understand what was going on. But she, as well as the rest of the family loved the performance. We thought the Juliet was especially strong in the way she conveyed the innocence of a girl's first love, then her growing strength as she defies her father. Romeo's dancing was very strong and capable.

Joan Osborne singing the songs of Bob Dylan was so good. Her two band mates were very good also. Joan made the songs her own, with her own style. Great night, and Bethel woods was a supper venue. Small and cozy place to see a show. We were in the front row, and had a blast. Highly recommend

DEVOtedLady
I saw DEVO at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA earlier this year. I used you, Ticketmaster, to purchase the following package: Price Level 1 VIP EXPERIENCE, 21 & OVER FOR VIP LOUNGE HOUSE RIGHT SEATING. Breakdown of charges: Tickets/Items $111.55; Order Process Fee $5.65; TicketFast Delivery $2.50. The total paid by me to you was $119.70. THAT SHOW WAS WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY AND MORE. ONE OF THE GREATEST THRILLS OF MY LIFE. Now, regarding the DEVO show at The Grove on Aug 5, 2011, I purchased the following package you offered: J-TYPE FULL PRICE VIP W/MEET AND GREET. The total amount I paid = $122.85. DEVO was awesome but the "MEET AND GREET" was disingenuous. I had to wait in line for 1 hour then stood at a table and was told to hand over my camera for a photo with the band. It's a lovely photo of just me with not one of the band members posing or visible, I had 30 seconds and was rushed through like just another steer through the chute to the slaughter-house. When the band finished autographs/photo-ops, everyone was again being herded right out the lounge door. Even when Gerry Casale, co-founder of DEVO, snuck in the lounge to see his fans, we were all told to leave now. Gerry was kind enough to pose with me for a photo. While we were being photographed, a large security guard put his hand on my back and said "time to go". When Gerry told the guard "Hey, these are my friends" the guard ignored him and proceeded to nudge me (albeit gently) to the door. I'm disabled and receive $1000/mo and have 2 sons to support. $122.85 is a lot of food I went without. Not going back to The Grove but I'd gladly pay $100+ to actually "MEET and GREET" DEVO. I'd do it 100 more times.

ndconcerts
The live personas of both Keb' Mo' and Taj Mahal run counter to the stereotype that bluesmen have to be downbeat and depressing. I've seen each of these men before more than once, but never together. Every time they've put on personable, fun concerts, and this time joined together to deliver what was easily one of my top five concert experiences of 2017 (and I've seen more than fifty shows since January). I knew that I would enjoy the concert--there was no question about that. I just didn't expect to have as much fun as I did, starting with opening act Guy Davis, who, like the men he was sharing the bill with, sat with a couple of guitars and sang the blues, but with so much wit and personality that he elicited a rapturous standing ovation from the audience at the end of his twenty-five minute set. Davis was an unexpected treat, one of the very best openers I've ever seen, and I'd go see him again on his own, easily. With ten years' difference in ages between Taj (75) and Keb' (65), one wouldn't blame them for 'taking it slow and easy', but from the opening chords of Horace Silver's "Senor Blues", the show was off and running...and didn't let up. Both musicians were obviously loving performing with each other and also with their remarkable band, which included Taj's two daughters on backing vocals. Taj himself sat through the set, but was not motionless; he played a variety of instruments, including a banjo, ukulele and of course, great harmonica. The man may be a senior citizen now but he still can blast a harp with the best of them. The setlist veered back and forth from choices in each man's catalog; my favorite was "She Caught the Katy", one of Mahal's classics and the first song heard in the 1980 classic "The Blues Brothers", one of my favorite films. That one really got people up and dancing in the aisles of the State Theatre. The audience was very receptive, and it looked to me like the band was having a lot of fun too. It was an evening of fantastic music. Five stars all the way!

The fireworks were okay, perhaps the highlight of the entire thing. The concept of having different areas was pretty well-thought out, and having an outside family fair was better than the actual event itself. There were some pretty bad factors: 1) the population: I'm not a local myself, but if you are a local, then you may feel a little bit like an outcast. It was WAY too many people there, you had to wait 10 minutes to use the bathroom or 30 for a drink. Plus the tourists can be a little out of hand 2) Drugs: No regulation on the drugs. You have to be careful if you are military. There were too many areas smelling like weed. 3) Overpriced drinks/Lack of variety: No way in HECK should you pay $9 for a liquor shot. You were much better off getting a mixed drink at the club or buying your own bottle of liquor for $20 minimum. Plus they lacked variety and ran out of the best liquor they had to offer. 4) No seats: Bad if you wore heels to the ocassion 5) Fun value: Many of my friends left after the fireworks. I left around 1 or 2, which is abnormal for someone who parties until sunrise. Overall: It was okay at best. Don't expect too much out of it. Some of my friends who went to Zanzabar said they had a better time there, which is sad because of its poor reputation.
